Seeking the King is the theme for our Christmas Music service this year. Rehearsals are scheduled every Wednesday from October 13 through December 8, with the exception of November 24. The final rehearsal will be on Saturday, December 11. Singing in the Christmas choir offers a great opportunity for many singers to be able to use their gift, be blessed by wonderful fellowship, and make an impact for the Kingdom.

Fall Happenings, 2009
Our Music Ministry is bubbling with activity this Fall.
Our Children's choir has begun and the children are learning several Christmas carols in preparation for their own little musical play. They are also learning several worship songs, scripture songs and kids praise songs as they march, sway, shake egg shakers and tap rhythm sticks as well as play tambourines, finger cymbals, kazoos and "wheezies". We are truly making a joyful noise!
Our Adult choir began rehearsals on September 23 for our annual Christmas Music service . We will be presenting a service of Lessons and Carols this year entitled "The Promised One". Compelling texts presented through beautiful musical settings tell of The Promised One, Jesus Christ, "born to set the prisoner free", born to cover the sins of us all with his shed blood on the cross. It will be a beautiful presentation of the gospel through read scriptures and moving choral works. Everyone is encouraged to attend and invite family, friends and neighbors to make this program a special part of their Christmas celebrations.

Spring/Summer Highlights
Our Music Ministry has had a busy and productive spring. Our Music Team has introduced a couple of new hymns, our adult and children's choirs presented beautifully worshipful music for our special Lenten services, and our highly skilled instrumentalists have augmented our hymn singing with wonderful instrumental accompaniment.
With the arrival of June, our Music Team has added two new members and we welcome Andrew Murphy, percussion and Mollie Jaeger, violin and vocal. Our adult choir has opened up opportunities for members to join the choir on a temporary basis by coming for two Wednesday rehearsals and then singing the Musical Offering with the choir on the following Sunday. We are looking forward to gaining some supplemental voices during the summer months.
The summer months ahead also promise to offer opportunities for rest and opportunities for growth. Our music ministry is looking forward to where God will lead us through both, and into the fall, refreshed and rejuvinated for the Christmas season.
If you would like to become part of our Music Ministry, please contact Karen Appleby at kappleby@faith-pca.org.

News from our Music Team
Our Music Team leads about half of our hymns each Sunday in worship. They are growing and developing as an integral part of our worship and have been teaching us some new hymns over the past few months that we are excited to add to our hymnody. On March 15th, the Music Team helped to lead worship at our monthly ministry at the Brother Bryan mission. They do this once a quarter. On May 2nd they will be supplying the music for one of our member's wedding. We thank you for your servant's hearts and your hard work in order to make our worship music more diversified, edifying and pleasing to the Lord.

Choir Updates for Spring
This spring our children's choirs have been learning about solfege and singing a beautiful tone. We have also been learning 2 songs for worship and a hymn for Easter. We learned a song about God's creation called, "God Made It So" and sang it for our parents this past Sunday night. We will be singing the choral introit for Palm Sunday morning, celebrating Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem with "Little Grey Donkey", accompanied by sand blocks, wood block, flute and piano.
Our adult choir has also been preparing for our Lenten season with music for Palm Sunday, a special Good Friday communion service and our Easter celebration which will conclude with the "Hallelujah Chorus" accompanied by brass, strings and continuo.
Both choirs have been working hard to make our musical ministry truly a blessing to God's people and a glorifying worship of our Lord.

Musical Blessings
Our Adult choir presented Handel's Messiah, Part 1 on Thursday night, December 11th. It was a beautiful, worshipful experience and a great blessing to me, the director, the congregation and the singers. Thank you choir! Your hard work was well worth it and the journey a joy!
